Demand from African countries supported Vietnamese rice prices this week even though supply from its new crop is about to peak, while Thai prices were pushed up by local demand for grain that traders said was linked to the general election there on July 3. Vietnam has contracted to sell around 100,000 tonnes of 25 percent broken rice to African countries this month, traders said on Wednesday.
