Millers in Kerala have resumed the process for export of rice from Kerala as the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, has permitted conditional export of non-basmati rice. The DGFT has allowed millers to export 25,000 tonnes of ‘matta' variety of rice from the Kochi sea port till September 30 this year. The rice exporters in Kerala had been demanding that the ban on export of non-basmati rice be lifted.
